Such a shame, Max’s year had so much potential. Yet again he
fell short last week hitting .217 with a measly 21 RBIs and 2 Saves…wait, what
was that? He actually beat Dave? Well CONGRATULATIONS Max you had an AMAZING
week!
This is the transcript of the actual text thread between Max
and I this weekend
Michael: 1:18 PM Sunday (immediately after checking the box
score Sunday morning and seeing Max should have picked up a pitcher for the
day) ‘You didn’t add a pitcher for today?’
Max: (no response….typical Max)
Michael: 10:10 PM (after seeing the final score that he was
gonna beat Dave) ‘Dude. Did you beat Dave?’
Max: 10:43 PM ‘idk’
This is our Max, Ladies and Gentleman
Without further ado I bring you the recaps for the week.
Also, the name changing was cute for a week, but cmon guys. Let’s put a wrap on
it. With one exception that you will see below, only because it worked
Brian and Josh, let’s call them Brosh for a bit, see how it
feels, beat Ketih last week. But hey who hasn’t. jk jk. Brosh’s pitching has
become fairly elite. Looking at the week to week stats they have three hiccup
weeks bot other than that they have been nearly untouchable on the pitching
side. Keith’s team is beginning to drift a bit. I haven’t heard too many
rumblings of trade offers nor do I see much activity on the waiver wire, I
guess next year is coming early for Mr, Keith.
Paul put a hurtin on Arthur hitting 13 HRs with a .290 avg
and a sub 3 ERA. Paul is currently in that mix of 6 teams that is basically all
the same right now in the ranks. Consistency will be the key moving forward.
Arthur continues to just not quite be able to get it done. We won’t draw any
major conclusions today but it feels damn early to be quitting, guys.
Marcley edged out Meyer last week. I would point out that
Josh Marcley decided to share some photo love over the weekend with a beautiful
shot from the outfield of Yankee Stadium so he had some good Karma to take into
the weekend. In reality, he won because Meyer couldn’t hit a lick this week. .230
AVG, 65 Ks (which actually won that category, yuck). Marcley also pitched
fantastically with a 2.36 ERA, he limited his starts either incredibly smartly
going up against the number one Floored pitching staff or he lucked into it (my
money is on this one because it looks like he should have grabbed a starter for
Sunday. The big takeaway is neither gained much in a key showdown, these are
two very good teams right now that are vying for positioning.
Dean topped Michael because Michael’s offense sucked.
Michael’s relatively good SP was ruined by some bad bullpen stats and Dean was
able to take advantage. Dean didn’t have a stellar week by any means but
hitting .297 is nothing to shake a stick at (btw does anybody know what the
hell that means?). Dean’s horse SP will be tough to crack any week, but there
was some room this week that Michael just wasn’t able to be good enough to
beat. My takeaway here was actually an observation I had mid week. With as
tight as the middle 6 teams are right now (and maybe even throwing in Dave
too), every matchup is key. Why I bring this up is the off-balanced schedule we
have in the league. Michael’s last 4 weeks in this unbalanced schedule lead to
him the top 4 teams in the standings. Not a good draw for Smyth. He will need to start beating some good teams
soon or else his late schedule will likely keep him out of the playoffs.
For the grand finale, MAX BEAT DAVE. This is pretty cool, I
won’t ruin it by talking too much about it. Max wasn’t even really paying attention
last week so he shouldn’t get too much credit, but all the more reason why this
matters. Dave has been showing some cracks lately. He lost to Paul a few weeks
ago, Gerrit Cole may be badly injured, Jeurys Familia is far from an elite
closer right now, etc. Idk, maybe I’m seeing more into this than there is, but
the gap between Dave and the field is not as wide as it was a month ago and
like it appears in the ranks. Props to the league for staying vigilant.
Monster of the Week: I’ll take a reader submission, Chris
Davis his 5 HRs for Brosh this week en route to a good win for them. It was a
down week for offense as a whole, so why not. Slight nod to Max for his Wil
Myers trade, he’s going for it, who else wants to take a chance?
Max of the Week: didn’t see much and I’m late to pick up
Buddy from boarding, Cheers
