Week 7: Well that Sucked

Michael got some golf in in Bermuda last week, that’s the Atlantic Ocean in the background. Josh was also working on his game recently.

Paul’s son and Michael’s brother, Andrew, graduated from Georgia Tech’s Urban Planning graduate program this May. He will be going to work for airport design firm in Jacksonville, FL later this summer.

My heart’s not really in it, boys. After tying for the single biggest decline in one week in the power rankings; after getting outbid for a trade that could have helped my team, after the new player I am now trading for got hit by a pitch in the hand possibly forcing me to take a lesser bid for my stud player…my heart just isn’t in it this week.

I even had some cool stuff to talk about. I found a new stat this weekend called expected weighted on base average that is basically a fantasy baseball life hack for seeing which players to buy low or sell high on, but today is not the day.

There are trades to analyze: Max betting on Josh Donaldson’s health (yikes), Cory getting scared of Dylan Bundy at the last minute after a bad start, Dean swooping in to block Michael, Arthur panicking on Manny Machado, Michael wanting a short stop too badly…but today is not the day.
I’m sure you all empathize. You probably didn’t have a blog to write the next day, but you’ve been here before, mentally. Fantasy is not a zero sum game: the highs don’t always balance out the lows. But maybe we should ask Dean how good he’s feeling right now to be sure, it’s quite a run he’s on.

There were some good matchups last week: Dave and BJ went back and forth ending in a tie. Crazily, 2 other matchups ended in a tie too. Not sure I’ve ever seen that before. Dean pounded Michael and Keith beat Max in the other matchups.

Monster of the Week: even if his week wasn’t fully monstrous because his pitching was wanting and the loss of Freddie Freeman will hurt, Dean is still the Monster of the Week. Whenever this run ends we’ll put some context on it, but boy…stay out of his way right now.

Max of the Week: Thanks for the user submittal on this one. Josh gets the Max of the week…even though he had some good intentions. Josh picked up a pitcher that was in a late Sunday game so that he could decide late in the day if the pitcher was needed or not. What Josh didn’t notice was that the late game was part of a double header and the player’s start or sit would lock at the time of the first game. The pitcher lasted two bad innings and team BJ missed out on some matchup points. Good job, good effort.
