Week 2: Big Leads and Outbreaks Galore
Arthur and his wife took a
trip to the Bahamas recently. Pretty much the only place in the world that
Americans can go!
We can all see the Yahoo Rotisserie
Standings, but occasionally I thought I’d post the Power Ranks just for perspective
to compare to past years:

Michael has the best power
rank we’ve ever seen in the league. With data going back to 2012, the closest power
rank to Michael’s 2.14 was Dave’s 2.43 in week 8 of his epic keeper year campaign.
While its very cool and all for Michael, things are outliers for a reason, he
will be sure to fall back to the pack soon enough. How is he doing it? Across
the board production (not counting Stolen Bases):

Volume is starting to make itself seen. Dean has also been hit hard by the COVID/PPD bug and is sitting in last place in team At Bats with 323. Most of the league is between 340 and 360. This is leading Dean to sitting in 9th place in the hitting categories.
Michael has avoided a number
of PPD games and acted quickly when his players did get PPD. Arthur has been hit
hard by the Yankees, Phillies and cardinals lost a series. Time will tell if
Paul DeJong, Didi Gregorius, or Sandy Alcantara should have been cut on the way
to filling the roster spots for those few days.
Volume in pitching is working
too. Michael and Dean are both at the top of the league in innings pitched and
are top 4 in the standings there. Dave continues to hold water with his low IP
strategy, but this is probably because he has company. Ryan, Dave, Keith, and
Arthur are all below 70 IP and are well off of pace to reach 675 IP. In line,
these four teams are all in the bottom five in the pitching categories.
Volume matters, be sure you
are keeping your hitting roster spots filled with active hitters and your
pitching is filling innings pitched to pace to 675 IP. If teams are getting hit
with PPDs, you really should be moving on from them unless they are elite elite
players. Chances are pretty strong you can get them back in 3 days. Two top 90
players were cut this week, for example, and at least one of them, I’d bet,
goes unclaimed.
