We have a new Floored Champion!
Max needed to become a daddy to bring home the Belt...but he did it! Thanks Elena
Max pulled it off. He won the Power Ranks. He earned the number one seed. He had the best team in the playoffs, and he managed it expertly to steer the ship home to port.
He posted an 8.98 Expected Week Wins in the semifinal with 23 HRs and 17 SBs with a 3.27 ERA, there was not much that was going to get in his way then.
Championship week, he was a bit more human with only 10 HRs and 10 SBs...but fantasy offense was down across the board (the 3rd place matchup had 8 HRs combined) and Max still put up a .300 AVG with a ton of Runs and RBIs. It was the pitching where he showed professional restraint not to chase Michael in pitching volume that was part of sealing this victory for Max. He was blessed with a 4-0 NW lead before two game-days had elapsed and he hung just long enough to outlast Chris Sale getting scratched and the Braves not stealing any bags on Monday to hold on for the victory. The ending margin was razor thin, but Max's team was the better one this week and this season.
Michael pulled a number of triggers this week, some of them worked, a number of them didn't. He has gone from due, to overdue, to back to the drawing board after back to back championship matchup letdowns and no championships other than the COVID one since 2014...that hurt to type. Four second place finishes the last seven years for Michael. Yikes.
Max will finally get his name on the trophy after 17 years in the league, and his wife will be happy that fantasy baseball season is over...point her to the crown.
In the BSC, all it took was Josh setting the weekend pitching lineup for team BJ to clean up for the tournament...you two gonna hang around now?
