"Week" 15: Crunch Time - Matchup Reviews and Trade Deadline Talk
Josh and Amber took a trip down to Key West where I'm pretty sure the former southernmost point buoy got stolen. Kids these days.
Brian is just trying to keep his eyes open but the family got together for a pretty great selfie here.
- Michael moved into a very underwhelming Year to Date Power Ranks lead as this week was more about Max faceplanting over the extended all star week.
- Keith has found the bottom of even the updated Chart view. Don't let the bottom fall out, Keith!
- Brian and Josh were the other big movers here all the way up from a 5.43 rating to a 4.64 rating. They've been ranked this well at other times during the year, will they be able to hold onto success?
- The headline matchup of the week had Arthur taking down Michael with some late and enormous pitching volume. Arthur tallied up 184 innings on the 10 day week, but Michael's efficiency was able to keep up with only 153 innings. Michael ended up the week 4 pitching Ks and one Quality Start short on a week that he chose to add two stashes instead of using every move to stream. He hopes that decision will not come back to bite him. Michael had a very good week...if he were playing the whole league with an Expected Week Wins of 9.15, but alas he did not match up well against Arthur here who also had a good week with a 7.56 EWW and got the victory.
- There were two big Yahoo standings-altering weeks, starting with BJ knocking Dean down a number of pegs. Dean's team has struggled when Royce Lewis isn't around, and this week he only had a 5.35 rating on the week. BJ pounced and had a very good week of their own, led by strong offense and good pitching to jump into first place in the Yahoo Standings. Meanwhile Dean fell back to 8th and has been in a 4-week long funk.
- Next Cory reminded Max what a great week looks like with good numbers across the board. Cory likely even left a point on the board, letting Max steal pitching Ks while Cory had big leads in the other pitching categories. It was literally the first time Max has won pitching Ks all year. Max continued his trend of inconsistent week to week performance, but no need to go over that again. Max's 4.04 EWW was one a bottom ten week on the year.
- Keith and Paul tied with their lunch bet standoff. Maybe they can rely on EWW where Paul outperformed Keith if he had been playing the whole league instead of just against Keith. These two teams are a bit adrift right now, both at the bottom of the Power Ranks and Yahoo Standings, they are likely more interested in the second half of this blog.
- Robert beat Dave in a close matchup. The both hit OK and pitched OK, but Robert won a few extra of the close categories. They are both still in the thick of the playoff race. We move on.
Trade Deadline
The Yahoo Trade Deadline is August 8th. We won't do a separate keeper trading deadline this year...or probably ever...again.
Paul and Keith are the most likely sellers, trailing in both the Standings and Power Ranks, though they really aren't that many games out of the 4th playoff spot so it could be a tight trading market.
Reminder that we DO now allow draft pick trades for the next year's draft as long as our rules for number of picks held isn't invalidated. We, as a league, chose NOT to implement a early round draft pick floor so you can go full-Paul and trade away the top of your next years draft to your heart's content. One caveat, given that we DO have a manger team that isn't managing a team next year (Brian and Josh), I will implement full side eye (and probably sick Amber and Cassie on them) if they try to burn it to the ground.
